Devin Leary is an American football quarterback, born in Sicklerville, New Jersey, who played college football at NC State and Kentucky before entering the NFL.[1][2] A standout high school prospect at DePaul Catholic, he set New Jersey state records with 9,672 passing yards and 117 touchdowns, earning Gatorade Player of the Year honors as both a junior and senior, and participating in elite events like the Polynesian Bowl, Elite 11, and Nike Opening Finals.[1][2] At NC State, Leary broke out in 2021 as a redshirt junior, setting a school record with 35 passing touchdowns (surpassing Philip Rivers' mark) and 3,433 yards on a 65.7% completion rate, ranking third in ACC passing efficiency at 157.1.[1][2][5] He earned ACC Quarterback of the Week, Manning Award Star of the Week, Davey O’Brien accolades, and Johnny Unitas finalist status; a highlight was his 336-yard, four-touchdown game-winning performance against Pittsburgh, the first such feat by a Wolfpack QB since Russell Wilson.[2][6] Named 2022 ACC Preseason Player of the Year, his season ended early due to a shoulder injury after six games (1,265 yards, 11 TDs).[1][4] Career stats at NC State: 6,807 passing yards (sixth all-time), .602 completion percentage (fourth).[1] Transferring to Kentucky in 2023, Leary threw for notable games including 315 yards vs. Akron, but posted a 56.3% completion rate amid high expectations.[1][3][4] Selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round (218th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft, he joined the practice squad behind Lamar Jackson but lost the backup role to Josh Johnson.[3][5] Recently waived by the Ravens, Leary, entering his second pro offseason as of early 2025, aims to secure a QB2 position.[3] At 6'1" and 215 pounds, he is noted for arm strength and experience across ACC and SEC play.[3][4]
